Greetings! I'm Julie Shannon and I am almost "alpha" at the JUS PBGVs
Kennels! I bought my first PBGV in January, 2002, a year and a half
after my husband's death and my retirement from education. My precious
"Vallerina", CH. Pepperhills Valley Girl was a champion when I bought her
and introduced me to the unbelievable antics that exemplify the PBGV
breed. She also was my foundation bitch and has produced incredible
pups. My goal is to breed PBGV's that are healthy, happy, and as close to the AKC standard as possible. I love showing my PBGV's in the conformation rings, showing eight to their championships at AKC dog shows. However, my real passion is hunting them! There is something so exciting about seeing dogs instinctively doing today what they were bred to do centuries ago! If a PBGV is structurally correct, it can hunt efficiently with less energy expended. As a matter of fact, in France, where the PBGV originated, a dog cannot be a champion unless it has passed the hunt test! All puppies at JUS PBGVs are raised in my home, are super dog trained, are litter box trained, and require a great deal of time and work! After their first shots at five or six weeks, they begin to "run with the big dogs" to gain confidence and to get social understanding of interacting with other dogs. At eight weeks, all the pups start "shopping". All my pups are leash trained at Pet Smart, where I follow them around the store as they shop!
